Learn about the Top 8 Avoidable Traps that destroy business hopes over and over again. Five (5) of them will stop you from getting started and three (3) will crush more than 80% of start-ups for sure! But there is hope because these traps are avoidable so if you are familiar with them, you can build a plan to make sure you avoid them. So let’s get started!

Top 8 Avoidable Traps that Destroy Business Hopes

#1. I don’t have enough MONEY

People often think that you need to have money to make money. But when it comes to online opportunities, that simply is not the truth. I’ve made money online without spending any money. I created a free website and wrote a few articles on it and made money with Amazon from that website.

So don’t tell me it’s not possible, since I’ve done it and so to have lots of other people. But sometimes we spend our money on frivolous things, as opposed to investing in ourselves for a better financial future.

#2. I don’t have enough TIME

Lots of people tell themselves they don’t have time to engage in the activities that would allow them to earn passive income online. But let’s be honest with ourselves here. We make time for the things that are important to us. Just let that sink in for a bit.

The thing is, if a busy mom of four (4) could find the time to crush it online, why can’t you? Now that busy mom is just one success story, there are so many more I could share with you. If a medical student can achieve success with dropshipping to help pay his medical school bills, then what’s stopping you? If Eddy could earn over $100,000 with affiliate marketing on a part-time basis, then why can’t you?

The fact of the matter is, an online business is something that anyone can do with as little as five to six hours per week. That’s one hour a day for five or six days. The thing is, you could either choose to make money or make excuses but not both. So which one will you choose?

#3. I’m just NOT GOOD at this stuff

Admittedly there is always a bit of trepidation for some people anytime they are starting something new. But telling yourself that you can’t do something when you’ve never tried it, won’t get you anywhere. When you were learning to walk and you fell a few times, did you tell yourself you weren’t good at this walking stuff, so you just didn’t want to do it anymore? No you didn’t! You got back up and you tried and tried until you got it right and once you got walking right, you tried running.

The takeaway here is that there is always a learning curve but building a business, especially an online one, is FAR less about ability. It’s MUCH MORE about following a proven path. The thing about it is that as human beings, we are good at adapting when we want to be.

We all start from scratch at some point and we learn. So your personal ability has very little impact on whether you succeed or not. It’s all about your mindset and the processes you follow.

Even if you think you’re not good that this stuff, you can hire others to do it for you. You can literally get someone to start and run your online business for you. Check out our article on how to get yourself a done-for-you Amazon affiliate website.

#4. I’m CONFUSED

It’s completely normal to feel confused but you’ll feel even more so, if you suffer from shiny object syndrome. A clear and concise framework is all you need really. Once you find your opportunity, then all you need to do is follow the proven path to success.

Trying to do too many things at once or jumping from opportunity to opportunity without succeeding at any, will confuse you as well as slow you down.

#5. I’m AFRAID

FEAR is probably the single biggest roadblock to achieving your business hopes. It’s scary to leave your comfort zone and you are most likely thinking what if I mess up or fail. So what if you mess up or fail? You won’t be the first or the last person to fail or mess up at something that’s for sure. But you can learn from it and move on.

The day I decided to write this article I was watching a BBC interview with NBA Basketbal legend Steph Curry. Steph was doing this coaching thing in London and in the interview, he mentioned that he had to have that confidence in himself to try new things on the court and to make those shots. Even when he tries and he does not make the shots, he still has to have that confidence to try again.

Even Michael Jordan talks about how many times he tried and failed. But he credits his failure for his success, because he had that confidence in himself to keep trying.

According to Michael “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Micheal Jordan

So even though you might fail, you still have to keep trying. Failure tells you that you’re doing things the wrong way in your attempt to achieve your goal. All you need to do is learn the lesson from your failure and use it as a stepping stone to move forward.

There’s no easy fix for being afraid, but you simply need to set your fear aside and move on.

So those are the five (5) things that will stop you from even getting started with an online business and perhaps business in general. But let’s talk about the three (3) things that will crush you once you get started.

#6. Slow results

When it comes to being an online entrepreneur, I’ve seen my share of impatient people. Some people have this instant success mindset, especially when it comes to an online business. Now while success can happen quickly at times, that’s not always the case.

So one of the things you need to do is benchmark. Have an idea as to how long it should take before you start making money, as it varies. You may also need to check on what you might be doing wrong and what you can improve for better results.

The thing about it is that if you can make one sale, whether it’s in affiliate marketing or whatever, you can make more sales. Once you know what’s working, you simply rinse and repeat.

#7. Losing faith before the magic happens

For some people, it’s easy to lose confidence because results can often be slow in some cases. So they begin to lose faith because they find the success is not happening fast enough. But let me just say that if you have an instant mindset when it comes to an online business, stick to your day job and make that work for you.

Truth be told, sometimes you need to engage in a trial and error process to find out what really works, especially in eCommerce. (But that’s business in general). I’ve seen it happen time and time again, even with affiliate marketing, depending on the strategy you are using.

#8. Speed to profits (and cash flow)

Depending on the opportunity that you are accessing, it can take a while to actually see or access your profits. For example, if you are doing something like white label or selling products on Amazon, then you need to put some or most of your profits back into your business to facilitate its growth; buying more product to sell etc.

If your product turnover is not as quick as you anticipated, then that could present a cash flow problem and slow your speed to profits.

Quick Recap

Top 8 Avoidable Traps that Destroy Business Hopes:

  1. The Money Myth
  2. Time Myth
  3. Lack of Ability Myth
  4. Confusion
  5. Fear
  6. Slow Results

  8. Cash Flow Issue

Like we said, these traps are avoidable. You merely need to put a plan in place to deal with the possible and relevant contingencies.

According to Wayne W Dyer, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” When all is said and done, it’s all about mindset really. It’s not about overnight success, but it’s about laying the right foundation and building towards achieving your success.

So you have to ask yourself if you can be flexible enough in your thinking to understand the process of how making money online really works and are you dedicated enough to follow a proven path to success? If there is a community of people willing to help you succeed online, then what do you have to lose? How much do you really want that financial freedom?

Only you can answer those questions for yourself.
